Delete backups failed because there is not enough space on the disk

Thread needs solution

Hi guys,

I tried to modify an existing backup plan, because the 2 TB disk was full and the retention was a few weeks or so. I changed it to keep the last 7 backups. I saved my changes and after the next run I get the following error message:

original text: "Die Aktivität 'Backups löschen' ist fehlgeschlagen. Es steht nicht genug Speicherplatz auf dem Datenträger zur Verfügung."

english: "The activity 'Delete backups' has failed. There is not enough space on the disk. "The 'Delete Backups' activity failed. There is not enough space on the disk."

Single backup size: ~180 GB

Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5

Maybe someone have a solution?

Thank you!

Hello J.D.,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

Sorry for the delayed response. Acronis Cyber Backup needs extra space when deleting a backup for re-compiling the metafile. We recommend that you temporarily free up at least 1 GB of free space and then re-configure your backup plan and apply new retention rules. Please also make sure that Consolidation is not enabled in backup options.
