Hi Nick!

That depends on how the backups in this chain rely on each other and what retention rules you might have. Specifically if there are still backups that should be kept but depend on the backups marked for deletion.

If there are none, you can try these:

  • Refresh the location (backup > Location > Refresh arrows in the upper right corner)
  • Use the acrocmd command line utility to reindex the vault in question (As I noticed the upper point has the same effect)
  • Detach / reattach the vault. (I've observed that this does a pretty good job of cleaning the database of old entries in general). It's very very slow though even for a 1TB deduplicated vault.

Thanks Peter. The associated *.tibx files have been deleted by automatic cleanup (once dependency is not required) but the recovery points still appear as "marked for deletion"

Hello Nick,

thank you for posting this question on Acronis forums!

As Peter has correctly answered above, these points are still there because there are backups (e.g. incrementals) that depend on these (marked for deletion) backups. They can't be deleted until the entire backup chain is deleted. The entire chain will be deleted (if it is already marked for deletion) when a new full backup is created and there are no more incrementals that depend on these (incremental or full - marked for deletion) backups remain.

Still having problems. The recovery points are still listed even when they have been deleted. Refreshing does not help

I retain only 10 backups, so 49 on that list have been deleted. They no longer get the "marked for deletion" icon either (all green/available). It's as if the index is corrupt. Is there away to re-build the index?

Hello Nick!

Do you have cleanup set on the backup task or as a separate cleanup plan? In either case can you share the details of the retention / cleanup rules? If they are not even marked for deletion it makes me believe it is the cleanup that's not working as expected.

Hello Nick.

Please export your backup plan into a .json file and share it with us for analysis.

Yes there is a clean-up and it is cleaning up the old backups. It's only recently that the recovery point list has stopped updating properly. JSON attached.

Hello Nick,

thanks for sharing your backup plan details and screenshots.

There is no consolidation enabled and you use Version 11 backup format. Your backup plan is set to clean up incrementals older than 5 days. It means that these incrementals can't be deleted but should be marked for deletion until the previous incrementals they depend on are not deleted. However, it does not work this way.

I recommend that you refresh (press circle arrows in a right-upper corner) a backup location where these backups stored in order to update the metadata:

If it still does not help, please open a case with Acronis Support Team for investigation and collect Acronis System Information from the machine:

Please also share a link to this forum thread with support engineers.

The clean-up is being performed correctly, just the list is not being updated. I've refreshed several times. It used to work fine...
