Is it possible to convert tib to tibx?

Thread solved

Hello!

I'd like to move some backups out of a deduplicated storage node to a simple network folder in a tibx format to leverage their inner deduplication and the fact that they don't have a metadata file next to them. I can export the backups no problem, but I can't see any options for compression or the format used.

My usage would be to keep the last backup of some decommisioned/reinstalled machines that will no longer have scheduled backups. I'd like to keep these separate from the active backups I keep in a deduplicated storage node, but have them use as little space as possible, which is why I was looking for tibx and/or compression options.

Neither exporting a backup nor creating a temporary replication plan offers such options. Can I assume it would only be possible if I did a backup of these machines specifically in v12 format?

Thanks,

Hello Peter!

Can I assume it would only be possible if I did a backup of these machines specifically in v12 format?

Yes, unfortunately, it is impossible to convert Version 11 to Version 12 backup format.

I will share the idea of conversion .tib to .tibx files as a possible feature request with PMs.

In order to store these old backups on as little space as possible, I advise that you create another deduplicated storage node and import them there.

Thanks Maria, that was my conclusion as well

Hello Peter.

This feature request is registered as Conversion Archive2 to Archive3 (ARC-1). I have added your vote for it.
