Moving a vault location

Thread solved

Hello,

I'm looking for manual how to move vault location. My vault is located in Beijing, I want to move to another country, probably on hard drives. And attach to the same Storage Node. Is it possible?

Export to location in Europe is no option due to network latency.

Regards,
Oskar

Hello Oskar!

I don't think this requires any complicated steps. Just detach and attach the vault after installing the hard drive at the target location. If you have the deduplication database in Beijing, probably should move that as well.

Hello Oskar,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

I should note that a variant that Peter described is possible if you can access your vaults in Europe by SMB from Storage Node in Beijing so that these vaults could be attached as network folders.

A better variant would be to create a new Storage Node in Europe and connect it to the Management Console in Beijing (please see the firewall settings here), then to attach your vault.

Hello Maria,

I began exports today and performance is terrible. In scenario like you described, Storage Node in Poland has a vault in China network location. Agent to perform operation is one of China server with good parameters and I export data from old vault to new in the same server room.

What kind of information is sending or processing by Storage Node in Poland? Maybe my inter-continental connection is bottle neck? Could you advice me how to verify and troubleshoot?

Regards,

Oskar

Hello Oskar.

In scenario like you described, Storage Node in Poland has a vault in China network location.

I suggested that you move your hard drives from China and attach them to the newly created Storage Node in Europe.

What kind of information is sending or processing by Storage Node in Poland? Maybe my inter-continental connection is bottle neck? Could you advice me how to verify and troubleshoot?

All data between two vaults are processed by Storage Node they are attached to. I advise that you detach these vaults from Storage Node in Poland and attach them to a local Storage Node in China for exporting data.
