Offline backup schedule

Thread needs solution

I'd like to know if it's possible to create a backup schedule that is intended to be run offline, only to a Secure Zone partition.

We have a machine that stays offline, and is only connected to the network periodically (infrequently) for specific reasons.  I want to run an Acronis agent on it to back it up to a secure zone on a local hard drive, but I don't want to be flooded with constant alerts and errors that the agent is offline or that its backup status is unknown.  However, I would like to get an alert if, when it does connect in one of those small windows, it reports there have been problems with the backups.

This would be similar to running an agent on a laptop, or otherwise remote PC, which doesn't have access to the internal network all the time.

Hello Jeremy!

I don't think there is a way to suppress specific alerts for specific devices. If there is, I'm also interested as I also have machines where being offline for long periods of time is normal. I work around this problem by regularly purging all alerts of these "Unknown status" and "Not connected for X days" messages. Then the real problems will be easily visible.

If you act based on email notifications, remote those alerts from the notification.

Hello Jeremy,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

You should apply a backup plan on that remote Agent in the time window when the Agent is connected to the internet and online in Acronis Management Console. Then it will run as scheduled even when the Agent is offline.

However, as Peter has already mentioned, there is no possibility to turn off specific alerts for specific devices. The only option is to block alerts of a specific type (e.g. Agent is offline) but these alerts will be blocked for all devices (Settings -> System settings -> Email notifications -> Send notifications about the following events).

Thanks for the response.

It really is unfortunate that this isn't supported, and that the workaround is either too much noise or not enough.

I will see if it will work out by adjusting the alert notifications as suggested.  In the meantime, is there somewhere I can submit a feature request?

By the way I also suggested similar features during a live feedback session. In my case it was about "hiding" specific alerts. I have machines that fail to backup and unlikely to do so due to drive errors. As these are manufacturing computers I potentially have to wait months to be able to act on that error meanwhile these alerts just hinder the visibility of other uknown backup errors. Yet I don't want this alert completely gone, as another teammate would otherwise be puzzled why the computer doesn't have a recent backup.

Hello Jeremy and Peter.

I added your votes for this feature request RM-1930 Configurable alert for online/offline devices in order to prioritize it.
