Phantom backup plan on workstations

Thread needs solution

Despite having just one backup plan scheduled for 02:15 our workstation's are backing up at 02:15 and 18:00.  The 18:00 time is from a previous backup plan that was deleted prior to creating the current plan.

A "acrocmd list plans" shows the workstations have a single plan called "Clients Backup" with Last Start = 02:15 and Next Start = 18:00.  A "acrocmd list tasks" shows eight tasks - two sets of full, incremental, replication & validation - with one set Last Start = 02:15 and the other = 18:00

I've exported "Clients Backup" plan and checked the json to confirm that 02:15 is the only scheduled time.

After deleting the "Client Backup" plan from the management console "list plans" shows no plans but the "list tasks" shows four tasks remaining, the 18:00 ones.

Trying to remove these tasks via acrocmd yields the error "This user cannot modify the task".  I've tried using both the acronis service and domain administrator credentials to no avail.

How can I delete these phantom tasks so when I recreate the backup it runs at just the 02:15 schedule?

Alan

Hello Alan,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

Please use Acronis Scheduler Manager for managing scheduled tasks: https://kb.acronis.com/content/1859

With this tool you will be able to get list of all scheduled tasks and its numbers and then delete an unnecessary task using its number.

Thank you Maria. Using Schedule Manager on the workstations enabled me to delete the unwanted tasks and now the backup no longer runs at 18:00.  To be clear, running schedmgr.exe on the workstations shows that there are now only 4 tasks as expected.

However, the server now alerts us (for each workstation) that the 18:00 backup failed to run!  Doing "acrocmd list tasks" on the server against each workstation still shows the 8 tasks, as before.  All 8 tasks have the same Plan Id.

I exported then deleted the Plan via the Backup Management Console on the server then ran "acrocmd list tasks --host..." now shows just the 4 unwanted tasks.  I ran "acrocmd delete plan --id..." and the operation completed successfully but running another list tasks still shows the 4 unwanted tasks under the same Plan Id.

So it appears the plan and tasks are somehow 'stuck' on the server.

Hello Alan.

However, the server now alerts us (for each workstation) that the 18:00 backup failed to run!

Please view the respective activity log (follow Overview -> Activities, select the respective log with this error message, click on Show details), you will see the Plan name there. You will be able to delete unwanted plan after you determine it.

The plan name is blank as I have now deleted the backup plan.  See the attached file.

Hello Alan,

thank you for sharing this output.

Could you please also execute the following command and share the resulting report for comparison here?

  1. run the following command:

    schedmgr get report > schedreport.txt

  2. schedreport.txt will be created in the same folder where schedmgr.exe resides

Attached file contains schedmgr report from a client and the server.

Hello Alan,

thank you for sharing these logs.

However, I have not found any phantom task that should be started at 18-00 in these logs. I would recommend that you open a case with Acronis Support Team and request a remote session so that they could find traces of this task. I also recommend that you share with the engineer an activity log for the warning about this failed task.
