Reboot during recovery, external hard drive damage

Thread needs solution

Hello.

I copied the backup files and folders to the external hard drive.
And I tried to recover using the 12.5 recovery image.

And before the progress gauge reaches 15%, a "reboot required" message is displayed.

If I try to reboot after that
All the contents of the external hard drive will be deleted.

Initially we used the image "on the 12.5 target machine",
The second used the "12.5 UEFI" image.

However, both images are in the process of being restored and all the contents of the external hard drive are deleted when rebooting.

(If you connect the external hard drive to another device after the symptom, the message "Format the disk to use it." is displayed.)

The external hard model is attached as an image.
The external hard file system format was NTFS.

What is the problem and what can be done to fix it?

Thank you.

Hello Lemoning,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

Please collect Acronis Disk Report from the system with attached external hard drive and post it here with activity logs for the failed recovery operation.

Hello Lemoning!

Are you sure the disk you are restoring from isn't the target of restoration by mistake?

I just yesterday made a restore that wouldn't boot because I forgot there is an additional usb-stick in it, and the system partition was restored there.

Hello Maria.

I have requested the necessary information from my client and am waiting for a reply.
I will upload the material as soon as I receive it.

Thank you.

Hello Peter.

Yes, I checked it.
Obviously, the disk was designated as a local drive other than an external hard drive.

Thank you.
