Restore to Hyper-V on same physical machine?
I am trying to restore a backup to a Hyper-V guest on the same machine. In other words, the physical machine running Acronis Backup 12.5 is the same physical machine running the Hyper-V host. Earlier this year, I did exactly this successfully with a minimum of fuss or muss. Issue #1: at the start of the restore to virtual machine process, Acronis Backup wants the IP address of the Hyper-V host. It also wants to install the agent on that machine … which makes me nervous as it is the machine already (happily) running Acronis Backup. Potential Issue #2: I am running with an 'inventory' of Workstation licenses. It is not clear to me if I can RESTORE to a Hyper-V guest with only a Workstation license. In short, _something_ has changed under the hood during the past few months, and my goal appears messy (if not impossible). Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Maria--
Thank you for the prompt reply! Booting with Acronis Bootable Media strikes me as the most reasonable and repeatable method. The documentation you cite ...
https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/…
... describes a 'conventional' restore from .tibx to physical machine. Having tried the Bootable Media and poked around the options, it isn't clear to me how to recover from .tibx and create .vhdx for Hyper-V. Universal Restore seems a likely part of the puzzle. In any case, I am (understandably) conservative when it comes to launching a Restore ... so any specifics you can provide on exactly how to step through the process with Bootable Media will calm my nerves.
Cheers, Bruce.

Hi Maria--
I successfully used Bootable Media to create a .vhdx file that worked like a charm! Thank you for the tip.
While this method thankfully works, it was very nice to have the RECOVER functionality in Acronis Backup proper. I understand the separate license to backup VMs, yet it seems appropriate to allow recovery with a 'standard' Workstation license. As I noted above, that functionality WAS present in Acronis Backup until recently.
Cheers, Bruce.

Hello Bruce.
Thanks for sharing the positive outcome.

I suppose that you mean Convert to .vhdx files function which is still available when you Edit a backup plan and click to Enable Convert to VM. However, you will need to specify AGENT THAT WILL PERFORM CONVERSION. Since you would not be able to specify Agent for VMWare/Agent for Hyper-V in order to convert to Hyper-V/VMWare (these Agents are absent in Acronis Backup 12.5 Workstation license), only Convert to .VHDX files option is available in this situation.
