restore only one partition of a Hyper-V ?

Thread needs solution

Hey there,
I have a physical machine on which I have some hyper-v virtual machines.

I do full backups of the virtuals from the host:

- one virtual disk on which the OS is
- one virtual disk with data storage
- one virtual with the shared memory file

The first virtual disk has 3 partitions.
The 3rd is the recovery partition of windows.
As I must enlarge the "main" partition is now the question:

Can I restore only the recovery partition from a backup and if yes, how?

Regards
S.

Hello Sven,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

The first virtual disk has 3 partitions.
The 3rd is the recovery partition of windows.

As I must enlarge the "main" partition is now the question:

Can I restore only the recovery partition from a backup and if yes, how?

If I understood you right, this is an entire disk backup. Sure, there should not be any problems if all these partitions are in the same disk or entire machine backup.

Please follow recommendations provided in this KB article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681

On a What to recover step please browse for backup location. After selecting backup location, go to the Archive view tab, and select the backup archive that you want to restore. In the Backup contents section select the partitions or disks that you want to recover.

The KB is valid for Universal restore but I hope it is valid also for normal restore.

I will give it a try on a test system...

Thanks a lot

Sven
