Retention rules - 1y / 1m / 4 weeks

Thread needs solution

I tried to research this subject and I cannot find anything what would suggest what backup scheme to use and how to set retention policy to keep backups as follow:

run backup every year and keep it for 2 years
run backup every 3 months and keep it for 1 year
run backup every month and keep it for 3 months
run backup every day and keep it for 1 month

every backup is a full backup

I hope it is clear enough without graphic presentation and I hope there is a smarter way than creating 4 different plans with 4 different files names, etc.

Thanks for any advice.
Pete

Hello Pete,

welcome to Acronis forums!

Please note that retention rules are applied to a specific scheme. Even though the scheduler allows to add several different backup schemes for full backups, the same retention rules set could not be applied to 4 different backup tasks (like you described), but to the entire backup plan. Following this logic, each backup archive set should have different backup names in order to differentiate and separate them for clean up rules.

Thus, the only way here is to create 4 different backup plans.
