What's the best way to create an 'archival' backup?
Hi all,
I am tasked to decommission a server and I want to make a backup for archival purposes. In this case, I want to make a full backup for an Ubuntu Linux 16.04LTS server and keep it for 1 year using Acronis Cyber Backup.
I appreciate all your comments, trying to learn from your experience. Thanks in advance!

Hello Leonardo,
Welcome to Acronis forums!
I would recommend Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 for Linux servers if you'd need to regularly backing up and protecting your server for 1 year.
If you need to perform a one-time backup operation and you already have Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 license, then backing up this server with Acronis Bootable Media (a Linux-based one) would be a good option. A Linux-based Acronis Bootable Media could be created with any license of Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5. However, this media does not support devices that use closed-source kernel modules. For devices of this type and others that are not detected by bootable media, please create Acronis Bootable Media as instructed in this KB article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/45616
Once you create Acronis Bootable Media, you can boot your server with it and back up. You could also use this media for restoring files/folders from the backup.
Otherwise, you can use a command-line utility for backup/restore as Peter has advised above.
