When backing up and converting to a VM, 2 vhdx files are created.

Thread solved

Hello,

I backed up the entire machine and created a vhdx using the convert to VM function.
I certainly did only one backup.
However, 2 vhdx files were created.

What is the cause, and how can I fix this?

Thank you.

Hello Lemoning,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

The VHDx is a virtual disk file format. If the entire machine backup contains 2 disks, then 2 VHDx files will be created upon conversion of a backup to a VM.

Hello, Maria.

Your answer was helpful.

One more question.
(I think there is no way, but this is an inquiry from my customer.)

They are using 2 disks, but is there any way to make one vhdx file?

Thank you.

Hello Lemoning.

Your customer can either merge these disks into one in the original VM, then back it up and restore to one vhdx file.

Otherwise, your customer may add the resulting vhdx files (for 2 disks) to any new VM and run it.
