Windows error: (0x80070032) The request is not supported - during creating backup for Windows Server 2016

Thread needs solution

Hey All,

I was trying to take backup in Experion Backup and Restore on Windows Server 2016 machines. I was able to Get backup for Windows 10 machines. But can not create backup for Windows Server 2016 machines.
Please advise and help.

Server OS: Windows 2016 Standard
Experion Backup and Restore R501.2

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

According to the activity log that you've shared, you use a very old build #8560. Thus, I would recommend that you update to the latest available build in your account.

This error message usually appears when a backup is made without VSS and fails.

Please navigate to Backup options -> Volume Shadow Copy service, enable using VSS when taking snapshots.

Then please reattempt the backup. Most likely the backup will fail again, and logs will contain a VSS-related error (which is the root cause of the issue). Please download VSS Doctor to investigate and share your VSS Doctor logs here for troubleshooting the issue with VSS.
