I got Acronis True Image OEM with an SSD I'm upgrading for additional space in my son's laptop (swapping an existing SSD for a larger one: I just want to clone and swap). The directions say to switch the new, blank SSD into the laptop and place the old SSD into the included USB enclosure. Then run the software to do the cloning operation... But if the laptop has a blank SSD how will it boot? And where do I install the software (old drive? New blank drive?) I installed the software on a different laptop thinking it would allow me to create a bootable thumbdrive with the software on it, but no such luck (at least that I can see). Now I'm worried that I won;t be able to install it again on the actual laptop that needs cloning because the key has been used... Any insight/help is appreciated.
