Delete infected file from backups

Thread needs solution

Hi,

we have been using Acronis Cyber Protect Standard Workstation 15 for a while now and now we have encountered an issue. As defender told us, there was an infected file in a folder. We have since removed it, however, since it had been there for five  months, it has been included in multiple backups. Aparently, the malicious intend of said file has just been discovered recently, which is why it hasnt been detected previously.

Is there a way to remove a file from a backup entirely? Is it possible to scan the backup files somehow after their creation to make sure that all files are scanned with the newest version of the Anti-Virus?

Thank you very much
Alex

Hello Alexander, welcome to the forum!

There is no way to exclude the files from previous backups.

The Standard edition does not have the feature to scan backups for malware; only the Advanced edition does. Please refer to this page for information about all the features included in the Standard Edition: https://dl.acronis.com/u/rc/Acronis-Cyber-Protect-Edition-Comparison-EN-US-221221.pdf

If the file was deleted, only the backups made after that deletion will not include it.

Thanks in advance!
