How to know which license a plan will need? (trialling)

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

We are currently trialling Acronis Cyber Protect, as a cloud service.

The trial gives us access to all the various levels of licensing and capabilities at the moment, but we are struggling to understand what features are tied to each license, or "service quota" as I think it's regarded.

For instance, no matter how basic or simple our "plan", with all features, except "back-up", disabled, it still builds with the message:

How do we see within the software, which features require which licenses (service quota)?

Thank you

EJ

Hello EJ,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

Please check the Acronis account email address you use for signing in to Acronis Management Console (Settings -> Licenses). You should select the email address that your trial license is registered with. Otherwise, if you synced with the current email address where the Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Essentials license is registered, the software functionality will be limited in accordance with the following feature list differences: https://kb.acronis.com/content/65304

Hmm, this is still not clear.

If we have 100 licenses of each type attached to the account, and we create a really simple and basic plan, how do we ensure the plan will pick the most appropriate license to consume? At the moment it just seems to insist on always using the most expensive license, even if it's not using the premium features.

Hello EJ.

how do we ensure the plan will pick the most appropriate license to consume

It strongly depends on the protected workload (please see the second table at https://kb.acronis.com/content/65253). However, if you do not have a license for backing up/protecting a workstation, a server license will be taken.

As in the example above, applying a protection (backup) plan to a group is not covered by Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Essentials license type, you should use an Advanced license for this: https://kb.acronis.com/content/65304
