Huge difference between "Size" and "original data size"
Hi,
One machine on my Acronis Cyber Protect 15 has a huge difference between "Original data size" and "Size" columns and o the disk too.
The "original data size" is 768GB and the "size" (found on the Backup Storage) is 5.27TB.
When I open the machine in Acronis Cyber Backup 15 Web Console and go to Backups it show my only three backups and so it does when I open the path to the Backup Storage (NAS) in the .tibx archive are the three backup sessions.
I tried to make some room creating a Cleanup Plan, with no success.
I don't know what else to do. I don't have a 6TB spare space cu backup the .tibx archive, delete it from the Backup Storage and recreate the backup plan.
Is there any other solution to diminish the huge allocated space. Or what could cause this huge difference?
Thank you.

Hi,
The only solution I had left at that time, for I struggled by my self, was to take the risk and delete the plan and the backup archive (*.tibx) and recreate the entire plan from scratch.
This post can be closed or archived for the issue/problem can no longer be logged nor replicated.
Thanks.

Are there some larger SQL databases involved?
These seem to cause a lot of changes from backup to backup and therefor create impressive backup file sizes.

Just seen a customer system, which has approximately 600 GB of storage, a part of this is used by a database application. Backups are kept 5 days/4 weeks/6 months, which amounts to 14 backups currently in the file in total.
File size of the tibx file: 13 TB!
(Had an Oracle server a while ago, which consumed 26 TB size for the backup file with originally below 2 TB of data on the server.)
There seems to be some very bad cleanup involved.
Best greetings from Germany
Olaf

Dear Olaf,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the issue you have encountered.
We understand that the size of the backup file you mentioned is far greater than expected.
( As you mentioned the SQL, please check if the SQL logs being truncated or not as per KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/71505 ).
Please verify if you are refreshing the vault before checking the size ( This is important, because sometimes the size displayed it's not updated ).
I advise you to update the agent to the latest build as well.
If the issue persists, I would recommend you to raise a ticket with support, because this needs additional investigation https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153 .
Feel free to reply here as well!

While deleting backups from Storage node -> Machine backup list, the Size of the TIBX does not change, thus the available space on the Storage node is unchanged.
Scenario:
I take a look inside Machine's TIBX the number of backups is similar to the numbers of backups shown in the ACP -> Storage node -> Machine backup. I delete another one from the ACP, it does disappear from the TIBX archive, but the size of the TIBX file and the size of Machine's Backup in ACP is unchanged.
Application backup is disabled, no Active Directory, no Database backup.
What could cause this kind of behaviour?

Hello Silviu!
That depends on many factors.
For example if you delete a recovery point of 10kb you won't see changes in the occupied size.
Do the following:
- Browse the storage node in the console.
- Refresh the vault manually ( maybe you are seeing an outdated value over there ).
- After refreshed choose a recovery point - Make sure it's a recovery point with significant amount of data, if you delete something for example with 14kb of data you won't see changes on the size.
- Delete the recovery point.
- Refresh the vault again.
- The value should decrease.
( Please consider to update the agent to the latest build too, there are known issues with synchronization fixed ).
If after refreshing the vault manually the size still the old one, you should contact our support with reference on that because that requires an investigation.
Thanks in advance!
