Illogical behavior of tape backup
Due to changes in how the replication is putting differential backups to tape devices with the latest update (in the past differential backups with the setting replicate last backup only created a full backup copy on the tape with the latest status, which was fine for me, now its only the differential piece) I tried again to perform a direct backup of the Hyper-V based VMs to tape.
The job logs looked fine, but the space on the tape was almost not used at all and a recovery attempt failed for all but the last saved VM.
Now I have the nagging suspicion that the reason for this was the setting "Overwrite tape in single tape drive at creation of full backup." I selected this setting to circumvent running my current more or less complex tape cleanup script before the task, which contains 8 virtual machines.
But instead of overwriting the tape one time before beginning the task Acronis Cyber Protect seems to do this for each VM contained in the job. WHY???
About the same unpractical behavior as the setting for ejecting tapes after successful backup (which is not pointing to the backup job, but to a single machine backup at least in wording too).

So a ticket has been opened since I have now 2 customers with failing replication of incremental/differential backups since update 5 (and also with update 6) - under a "green" completed replication task each single VM in the task shows the error "Backup '<GUID>' kind mismatching. Initially created as DIFF but now become as FULL." - and the statement of the "support staff" after all the "collect-the-system-information" vodoo was kind of "The developers are working on a fix within one of the next releases, cannot tell you the ETA, may I close the ticket."
Very well, so the customer pays his maintenance fees for a product to backup his servers to tape and cannot perform this backup at all. And the only solution offered is to wait? I think we all know how long the Acronis developers take to fix issues which affect only a limited number of customers, if they ever do it at all.
So I plan to roll back to the last functional version - but how can I do it (should at least work with the perpetual version)? Before I uninstall the software and "get lucky": All the links on the website seem to point to the "latest and greatest" version only. I did not download the full image for the older versions unfortunately. Does someone know if there is a way to get the web installer for the old version to download the old version instead of the current version? Or a direct link to download the full image for Cyber Protect 15 Update 4?
