Moving On-Premise Management Server: Best Practices and Troubleshooting Questions

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I've been put in charge of moving our old on-premise management server to a new one. The hardware is going to be retired and our new server has arrived. We have about 20 servers and 30 desktops which are all critical. This is a combination of VMSphere, physical servers and desktops.

We went with a clean install to do everything according to the best practices. However I have a couple of questions:

  1. I've created a .msi with Agent for Windows, is it normal for all other services to show up too in the services menu? When we click uninstall only the 'Agent for Windows' is visible.
  2. Our AMS is a server in RAID, should I back-up the virtual C:/ drive? Our entire server (including back-up drive) also has a back-up but this is more cold storage rather than something we can access throughout the day.
  3. What is the  proper method of moving an agent on version A  and server A to server B with version B? Both are Cyber Protect 15. Currently we completely uninstall Acronis with all configuration files to avoid any conflicts.
  4. Some servers throw a snapshot warning because of VSS, is it risky to disable this for a plan? Should only those affected by this warning be in such a plan to still have the functionality on servers where it's working?
