TIBx File ACB make it unreadable

Thread needs solution

Hello all.

I bought Acronis Cyber Backup solution. And when I make a backup, then the entire backup is saved in .tibx format and you can read and copy files from there.

the question is, how can I make an unreadable backup? So that at the right time, I could just make a backup from this file, and no one could see what is in it.

Hello Maidar Ganaa!

the question is, how can I make an unreadable backup?

You can configure a password for the backup to limit who can access it.

So that at the right time, I could just make a backup from this file, and no one could see what is in it.

Not sure what do you intend to do. Do you aim to make a copy of the tibx archive which you want to make unreadable?

Hello Maidar Ganaa!

What is the use case you want to make the backup unreadable for? The obvious way would be to put the backup on a share where only Acronis, and however needs to browse them has access.

Regardless of what type of backups you do it will be a tib or tibx file. If you want to have a copy of files at two places without an archive to contain them, it sounds more like you need a file sync solution.

Hello Maidar,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

Peter has already answered your questions and I should confirm:

- backup archives could be saved only in two file formats tib (Version 11) or tibx (Version 12) https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberProtect_15/index.html#cshid=38763;

- you can set encryption to protect backup archives https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisCyberProtect_15/index.html#encryption.html?Highlight=password
