What does "AtpSoftwareInventory" do?

Thread solved

I'm using "Acronis Cyber Protect 15 - Backup Advanced Workstation". It often happens that my computer's fan runs loudly because the Acronis process "ATP Software Inventory Service" consumes nearly 20% of the CPU. What does this service actually do?

However, I decided to rename the executable so that Acronis can't start this service anymore.

C:\Program Files\Acronis\AtpSoftwareInventory\software-inventory.exe -> ...\software-inventory_.exe

But I don't know what side effects this might cause. Manually starting the backup does still work -- and the backup looks good.

Any idea?

OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (64bit)

Hello!

That service refers to the feature: Software and Hardware inventory.

Please refer to the following KB for more details: https://kb.acronis.com/content/65663

If you don't use that feature, disabling that service won't affect the backups.

I would advise you to raise a ticket so that the issue can be investigated anyway: https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Best regards.
