Hello Raviteja E,

thank you for posting this question on Acronis forums!

The PostgreSQL supported as an alternative SQL database for the Management Server installed on a Linux server. It is also used by Scan Service for a built-in database.

In order to back up the PostgreSQL database, your partner could use Acronis Agent for Linux installed on the respective server: select the entire machine or disks backup and use Pre/post data capture commands in Backup Options to suspend the database for a short period of time required for making a snapshot of data being backup up.

This will save consistent data for any database that supports transactions, and after restoration, the database should roll back such transactions and the database will become consistent.

Maria, based on what you said it is only possible to backup entire machine. Am I correct?
If yes when will it be possible to only backup PostgreSQL database?

Hello Raviteja E!

You can backup just the database file if you suspend it before backup.

Hello Raviteja.

Yes, you will be able to back up the PostgreSQL database files on Linux as file/folder backup. Since databases on Linux do not use Microsoft VSS, you can just suspend them before backup: there is no need for special Agents that communicate with VSS before taking a snapshot.
