Acronis Backup Scan for Malware

Thread needs solution

Concerning Acronis Backup Scan for Malware product:

https://dl.acronis.com/u/rc/WP_Acronis_Cyber_Protect_Backup_Scan_for_Malware_EN-US_201006.pdf.

We have a partner whose customer is requesting information on the following things:

• Ability to get a summary report of all files that are infected across all recovery points in the archive - for Legal and Compliance purposes

• Ability to exclude infected files from the recovery - to ensure the known bad files are not being recovered

• Extension of the previous point - ability to automatically recover all last good file versions when doing the recovery: for example, there are 5 recovery points, and the customer discovered a ransomware and shut down the original server. File A was infected in recovery point 1, file B was infected in recovery point 3, file C was infected in recovery point 4. The customer would like to initiate a recovery from the last recovery point, but make sure that no infected files make it to the recovered server, only their last good versions.

Are any of these request doable now, or on the roadmap?

Hello Kimber!

We do have those features available, but they require advanced licenses/quotas.

Regarding the reports, you can schedule them for detected threats and backup scanning details here: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/CyberProtectionService/#reports.html#kanchor522

Our advanced feature automatically puts infected files in quarantine, so they won't be included in the backup: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/CyberProtectionService/#quarantine.html#kanchor1305

As for your query about recovering only good backups, it doesn't work like that. We recommend using the backup scan to ensure that all backups are good and free from any threats:

https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/CyberProtectionService/#backup-scanning-plans.html

Thanks in advance!
