Acronis Cyber Protect backup fails to move past calculating data

Thread needs solution

I have been in contact with Acronis and they are unable to assist me other than reading from a manual.  I have Acronis Cyber Protect.  I backed up my system but my problem was every time it finished, it restarted immediately before I was unable to do anything.  I called Acronis and they said upgrade to the next version, and uninstall the other and uncheck the "shut down when complete" in advanced settings.  I did all that.  Even ran VSS which showed no errors with VSS. The new problem as the older software was updated, is now the backup will NOT advance past Calculating Data mode.  I am unable to even have the backup issue that I had before I was advised to update.  Now it won't move past "calculating data."  I would be so grateful if someone could help me out!  Thanks in advance.

Reid, welcome to these public User Forums.

Acronis will only provide support for their latest ACPHO subscription version - all previous versions of True Image are not supported.

What was the older version that you had installed prior to installing ACPHO ?

The 'Calculating...' phase can depend on what Source data is selected for the backup task, i.e. by default, Acronis will select 'Entire PC' which then includes all connected disk drives, which in turn can result in a very large amount of data to be inspected by the application if you have some multi-terrabyte size drives installed.

To move forward with this issue the best place to check is the logs that Acronis produce for backup tasks, but I suspect that these won't have much useful information if the task never really gets started (past the calculating size point)!

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant Version 2.6.3 is available.

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant, i.e. Media Builder.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
