Acronis True Image 2021 backup validation fails with the error "The end of the file has been reached"

Thread solved

See attached screenshot.  Acronis is in a failing loop.

The behavior began today.  The software completes the backup and begins validation.  That fails with the attached error message. Then, Acronis begins another backup.  That sequence has been continuing all day long.  I have no understanding of why or how to fix it.

There is nothing useful in the knowledge base; merely suggest looking at the log files. Not an easy thing to do - you will need to use the MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.7.5.1). @Steve Smith gives the following guidance on the logs that may be relevant:

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

Hello!

Thanks for participating!

  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that your computer has a stable and reliable network connection to the NAS. Verify that the NAS is accessible and that there are no connectivity issues.

  • Update Acronis True Image: Make sure you are using the latest version of Acronis True Image.

  • Verify NAS Permissions: Confirm that the user account used for the backup has the necessary permissions on the NAS. The account should have read and write access to the designated backup folder.

  • Check NAS Storage Space: Ensure that there is sufficient space available on the NAS for the backup. If the storage is full, it may lead to errors during the backup process.

  • Check for File System Errors: Perform a file system check on both your computer's hard drive and the NAS. File system errors can sometimes lead to backup failures.

  • Reinstall the program.

Best regards.

FIxed, after finding no cure in the forums, I gave it the 3-pound hammer fix by deleting the backup profile in its entirety and began it anew.  So far, it has run two full backups without crashing or producing an error message.

This is the fussiest program.  I would upgrade but would that fix anything?

Hello!

We can't determine whether that would fix anything without the logs. Most probably, the upgrade won't fix anything, but without testing, it's impossible to tell you.

Best regards.

The same has happened to me several times. My solution is similar to Leroy's but easier.

1 Clone backup XXX,

2 Change name of clone to backup XXX2. I am up to no 3 on an image backup

3 Create another backup  folder named XXX2

4 Change backup destination of renamed clone to folder XXX2

5 When this works use Acronis to delete XXX and its folder.

Saves re-creating a new backup.

BTW I backup to external USB3 and it has happened with several disks.
