Acronis True Image 2021 does not allow Windows 10 to be update May 2020
Acronis True Image 2021 does not allow Windows 10 to be updated to the 2004 version (May update 2020). I had to disable Acronis protection for a couple of hours to upgrade Windows 10 to the latest available reality. Only by disabling Acronis protection, during the installation of the Microsoft update, it's possible update the computer's operating system.
The problem is Acronis protection prevent access to:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe
PS: I mistakenly posted this in Acronis True Image 2020 topics

Hello Max,
thank you for bringing up this issue! I've raised the topic to the RnD, according to my colleagues, rundll32.exe is blocked because it can be used to run any process and malicious processes as well. Therefore we cannot exclude it from monitoring by default. However, my colleagues agree this shouldn't interrupt the OS updates. The issue will be investigated to find a secure way or performing updates.

Hi, Kate, this problem is ONLY with May 2020 Update, not with others update.

Interesting, thank you for this detail! I'll clarify if we received more reports of this behavior

Was this ever fixed? I’m running Acronis TI 2021 build 39287 on Windows 10 22H2 and I still have to disable all the Acronis entries under services and start up in order to get windows update to run. I have several perpetual licenses and have been using Acronis since 2013. If I have to pay for another backup solution, then I’m gonna have to evaluate if a Acronis is still the best choice for me since the only choice now is a subscription model. Not sure the new version would even solve the issue.

Hello!
The Acronis 2021 is an outdated and legacy version. It doesn't have any updates since few years ago. If the issue persists over there make sure you have the latest build installed or upgrade to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office.
Thanks.

Duh!!!
But does the same problem exist in the newer version?
The funny thing is out of 3 computers with the same version, only 1 is having this issue. All are the same version of OS, Acronis and antivirus. It most definitely Acronis causing the issue. I’ve been dealing with this for a few years. Guess I should have raised it before now.
Having a perpetual licence is nice. You get nicked and dimed to death now a days with subscriptions for everything. All I want is a backup solution, the cyber protection I use a real solution for. Pity Acronis doesn’t let you forgo its install though I do have it disabled.

Hello!
This thread is old and not created for Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office but for Acronis True Image 2021 (a legacy version without updates since 2 years ago).
If you have the new version and are still facing issues (not expected), please raise a ticket at https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153.
Best regards.
