Attempt to use NULL reference. Asking to Reboot. From USB restore

Thread solved

Hi guys,

I'm back again. Got the latest ATI2021 and been successfully using Acronis USB boot disk method. I have just completed another backup via USB boot (Acronis media created) and I am unable to restore from my external USB drive that I have just created a full backup from 2 mins ago. So I'm not in a data loss situation, just testing it before I trust it!

Firstly I boot using F12 and use the Acronis Media Creator to create a USB I boot Acronis. I created the backup image and validated all OK.  When I select restore I select the tibx file and restore to the correct Drive (as per all other other restores I've done previously). When I and select start I get asked to Reboot which I've never been asked on previous restores (so maybe this info helps).

See reboot image 1

When I click OK I get a screen pop up.

See reboot image 2

Don't understand this. Any ideas please?

[edit] I'm looking at the helpful post here

https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2019-forum/reboot-re…

I'm currently deleting all the partitions on the C drive (see image 577535-254609.jpg) and will see if I can get the restore to work.

I sure hope it works, or I will be in trouble!

[edit 2] If that doesn't work I will look at the BIOS settings as recommended here

I probably should have tried this first, but hey ho.

OK - Wipe completed. 577540-254611.jpg

Tried restore again and it started OK - Without asking for reboot. 577540-254612.jpg

Success - Restore completed. 577540-254613.jpg

All good. Hope this may help others...

Can confirm this helped me. We lost the bitlocker key & wanted to restore to the same working drive using the USB rescue media. When we tried without formatting the bitlocked drive initially, it would fail with the error below.

After clearing the drive with the built-in tool (whatever it's called), it did not ask for a reboot and recovered successfully.

Attempt to use null reference. (0x10001)

$module = "trueimg_home_pe_vsa64_39216"

Processor::RaiseNullReferenceException: c:\jenkins_agent\workspace\ati-main-win-ati\62\processor\ref\ref.cpp(236)

Old Post, but maybe it will help someone.

Check BitLocker-Status by using comand promt as admin:

manage-bde -status

I'm sure, your drive is encypted.

Decrypt it by manage-bde c: -off

I'm shure restoring the image will be running after that ;-)
