Attempting to restore files from an Acronis-mounted drive in Windows 10 proves to be a challenging task.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm facing a challenge while attempting to restore files from the Acronis mounted drive of a backup. Specifically, I'm trying to restore files within the user folder on Windows 10, but the system is indicating that the folder is protected, and I lack the required access rights. Could you guide me on how to access the folder so that I can successfully restore the files to my disk?

Thanks,
Robert

Hello!

Please apply all the solutions in this Knowledge Base (KB) and grant the necessary permissions: https://kb.acronis.com/content/45806

Also, make sure to validate the file in the console to confirm that it is not corrupted.

If the issue persists, and there is no corruption and the permissions are granted, please raise a ticket at https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153.

Best regards.

Robert, if you are attempting to restore hidden / system files from such as the User AppData path, then it is best to do this using Acronis rescue media to boot the system and do the restore outside of Windows, otherwise, restore the files to another drive and not to the original location where they were captured from.  Be careful when replacing such files especially if they come from a different system.
