Could not recover file after fresh backup (using Acronis True Image for Western Digital)

Thread needs solution

While 'WD Smartware' failed to detect the 'MY passport', I went to support and found out that the SmartWare software I was using is not compatible with Windows 10 (although was using for backing up critical files & folders' for several years. Recommendation was to download 'Acronis True Image for Western Digital'. So, I did. Again used only 'files and folders' totalling about @110GB. Then to test, I just selected 1 file - deleted (or actually copied to another location) and then attempted to recover from the fresh backup. It ended up with cryptic message saying 'Recovery completed with errors' and file as chosen destination is not visible. I attempted 2/3 different destination and everytime it showed no recovered file. Attempted find details on error - found nothing in "Logs: (which supposed to be at C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs). Not sure what the error/s is/are. No point is doing backup if I cannot restore when I need.

Rohit, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

See KB 65547: Acronis True Image 2021: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) and scroll down the page to 'How to restore files in File Explorer' which you should find easier to use if only wanting to recover some files, allowing you to use normal Copy & Paste commands.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.3.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
