Do I need to use "Tools" --> Apply Universal Restore (it's grayed out)?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I try to recover a backup on different hardware. After restoring the backup, I use Acronis Universal restore. In Acronis Universal restore, I add a driver directory and press on OK in the main menu. Then the system is processing something and is ready within a minute. Thereafter, I reboot the systeem, but it doesn't seem to work.
In Acronis Universal restore, I also see the option "Apply Universal Restore" in the menu Tools. However, this one is grayed out. Do you know why? Do I need to use this option?

Love to hear from you.

Kind regards,
Peter

Peter, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you are migrating Windows 10 or 11, then you may not need to use Universal Restore as the OS has much improved hardware detection and handling of changes than with earlier versions.

I would suggest just trying to boot Windows on the new system and see whether Windows can resolve the drivers needed for new hardware discovered during the boot process.
