Issue - ACP Drive Cleanser Stuck at 'less than 1 minute"

Thread needs solution

Updated Win 11 -64 bit system, set to wipe a USB attached external hard drive (1TB Samsung T5).

Took about 18 hours to get to the "1 minute" mark and just stayed there.

Saw the same issue in my licenses ATI 2020 build, and the Acronis recommended solution in that thread is to update to their latest software.

The only good news is that I didn't spend any money to find out this feature still doesn't work.

Hello Matthew!

I'm sorry to hear that you encountered an issue with wiping your external hard drive.

To resolve this issue, I recommend updating to the latest version of Acronis True Image, as suggested in the thread you linked to. This may resolve the issue you are experiencing and improve the performance of the software overall.

Additionally, I suggest checking the health of your external hard drive using a disk health monitoring tool. It's possible that the drive may have developed some issues that are causing the slow performance. If the drive is failing, it may be necessary to replace it.

I hope this information helps. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask or contact our support https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

The process used by Drive Cleanser takes a very long time. For large drives it can take several days. I have never had the need to use it.

In most cases it is overkill. If a drive has something potentially important on it, I smash it with a large hammer and drive a nail through it. If you just want to reuse it, then just delete the partitions, or use a program that is less rigorous. You may wish to try the drive utility from the drive manufacturer which may contain a program optimized for the particular dive, or allow the choice of less comprehensive disk wiping algorithm. My recollection is that WD Dashboard has its own application.
