Network Backup win11

Thread solved

How exactly do I enable my laptop to backup onto a dedicated mapped drive SSD in my PC? Something about MS networking leaves me blank though I ran a Novell one for years.

Thanks

David,

Windows 11 makes things a bit more difficult for doing some tasks simply because 11 tries to blend new methods with old for some tasks.  Map a network drive is one of them.

Open File Explorer and click to select This PC.  Now look to the right side of the top menu for the three dots.  Click on the three dots and a new menu will appear from which you can select Map network drive.  Follow the prompts in this wizard and you should be all set.

Oddly Map Netw Drive is missing there but I had already achieved that via Properties. My problem is twofold.
1. As Acronis won't recognise MS mapped drives I enter the backup address as \\192.168.0.100\F:\backup. Acronis then asks for a password and user.
2. How  and where do I set this Acronis password. I use a pin for my PC but that is not asked for.

All is now well. I'd forgotten firewalls but all that's sorted so problem solved.

Thanks for the input.
