No optionis under "Build" availalbe, thinking "Updates to the image are pending" under project description cause

Thread needs solution

Well, feel like I am missing something REALLY simple...

Just downloaded 2.7.4 and setup.
Upon attempting to do something simple, as I have done in the past with 2.7.1 but I can't do a "Build" of a thumb/flash drive.

I have spent hours going through docs & help topics to no avail.  I simply created a project, selected all the applications (their all queued to install), commited,  But I get no optioins available under "Build". Looking for option to build USB illuminated at least.  But none, are illuminated in ADVANCED mode.
Under EZ mode I do get optoin illuminated for BUILD ISO ?  But nothihng in ADVANCED ?
Also, in EZ mode the "Update to image are pending" is NOT DISPLAYED, only in ADVANCED.

Thinking the issue must be "Updates to image are pending"  in project description (ADVANCED} related ?

I did go to drivers, analyzed, applied.  Ran analyze again, all good.

Put in a thumb/flash drive and in USB prot, do see it under "System Configuration", USB. But no Build USB options availalbe in ADVANCED / EZ ?

Thanks,

Dan

I just gave a full response to this on the duplicate which was deleted. Can you undelete it?

Sorry BrunoC... thought I was being helpful by deleting my duplicated post.
I do not see a way to undelete ?

Dan,

It is important to understand the operational differences between EZ-Mode and Advanced Mode.

EZ-Mode will do as much as possible automatically. It will mount the image, install basic apps and packages, install optional apps, unmount the image and build.

In Advanced Mode, all this is done manually. It will not allow the build until the image is ready.

The reason "Updates to image are pending" is only visible in Advanced Mode is because it is telling you that something requires the image to be mounted and some processing is required. It does not appear in EZ-Mode because there is no need to be concerned. If you see this message, the image is not ready to build.

In your original post, you seem to be saying you queued the applications to install but you don't say that you executed the menu command to actually install them.

Unless you have a specific issue with hardware support in the rescue media, there should be no need to deal with drivers at all. I suggest forgoing this step and if the media works, you're good.

At any time you can switch between Advanced Mode and EZ-Mode.

For the USB drive, please use a drive up to 32GB. I format FAT32 so larger drives produced issues.

As for the commit image function, this is not necessary to do explicitly unless you want the image updated but you do not want to unmount it. Unmounting an image will commit the updates automatically... unless the Image/Discard updates menu command is checked.

I hope this helps.

BrunoC,

The menu command  applications/"process queued installs" is the command I was missing. Gosh, even by the wording it was intuitive/obvious... but I missed it.  I did that and all proceeded as normal.
As I was thinking,  it was a simple command I was overlooking.

And, The Flash/Thumb Drive I was using was a 64Gbyte...
Switched to a 32Gbyte with a FAT32 format and became visible and worked fine.

So, thinking, using larger capacity USB spining hard drives should not be considered as an option.  As Steve mentioned in a previous message the drive info is difficult to interpet. So, won't consider them in the future.

Thank You !
Dan

Sorry I made you type that reply twice, yikes !

Glad you got it going, Dan.
