Not releasing USB device

Thread needs solution

After I do a backup with Acronis (latest version) it doesn't release the USB device I backup to when it's done so I can't eject it.  I have to shut the computer down to remove the device.  It didn't used to do that.  Not acceptable.

I don't recall seeing other users posting of any USB eject issues after backups and this isn't something that I have encountered myself.

Is your backup set to do a validation after the backup completes?

Instead of doing a computer shutdown, try just signing out of your user account then back in again.

Have you tried using Disk Management to take the disk offline?  Windows Explorer is a common process that will keep a disk busy preventing ejection.

Is this something that started happening with the recent release this week? Have you tried it multiple times to know that it was not something else holding onto the drive? Is it 100% repeatable?
