Ransomware false positive?

Thread solved

I've not found anything about this online, so here goes: my Cyber Protect Home Office is flagging the Soundtouch.exe application as possible ransomware. I've quarantined the identified files, but wonder if this is a false positive? The Soundtouch app operates my set of speakers, and can be downloaded from the Bose website. I would share the URL, but am not able to do so on this forum.

Any information gratefully received! Thanks in advance.

Hi RhinoFodder!

Thanks for contacting.

These features use smart and complex behavior analytics to determine any possible incoming threats. However, sometimes a harmless software can produce a suspicious behavior or there might be a rare unauthorized code which you think should have been blocked by Acronis protection - we treat all this feedback from our partners and customers very seriously and appreciate your reports that help us make Acronis protection even better.

We should follow this KB for the situation: https://kb.acronis.com/content/69412

I would advise you to collect the following information and contact our support so we can investigate the issue:

Information needed

  1. Description of false positive. Does it happen regularly? Is the application known? Why do you think this is a false positive?
  2. Screenshot of the alert you are receiving
  3. Zipped binary in question (please, protect ZIP archive with password)
  4. System report: https://kb.acronis.com/content/69418

Unfortunately, the file attachment is currently not available on forum, please use a third-party sharing app and attach the link to those files once you open a ticket.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Jose! I'll do as you've suggested.
