Recovery doesn't show any files

Thread needs solution

I've backed up my computer and file explorer sees the files.  I've reinstalled Windows and wanted to recover my computer from my backup but when I navigate to "Recovery" it says I don't have any backups.

Hello Tammy.

Welcome to the forum!

Did you uninstalled the product recently?

Please try the solution of this KB and check if that solves the issue : https://kb.acronis.com/content/60918

Let us know if the file appears after you add it manually.

Thanks.

Thank you very much.  My computer failed to boot after a Windows update on Friday so it was wiped and Windows reinstalled, and I had to reinstall Acronis TrueImage.  I was able to access the backups by following that instruction.

I've tried choosing the latest backup and selecting "Full PC" and it prompts for a restart, runs some stuff on the screen and restarts, but it's booting right back to the new installation without recovering from the backup.  I've never needed to do this before so I could use some tech support.  Is there a way to get that?

Tammy, what you describe is correct when attempting to perform a recovery of the OS drive from within Windows which requires a restart into a temporary Linux environment but that environment has a number of known limitations which are probably coming into play with your PC!

The recommended method for recovering the OS drive is by creating the Acronis 'Simple' rescue media then booting from that media using the same BIOS boot mode as used by the Windows OS, then doing the recovery from that safe environment.
