Recovery from .tib file is stalled -- backup done in Windows 7

Thread solved

The recovery program seems to run for many minutes and then stalls with the cursor spinning (as if the code is in an endless loop).  I am in Windows 10, and the back up was made in Window 7 using Acronis Trueimage on the hardware of a different manufacturer.

Must I go back to a copy of the original hardware, and use Windows 7 (and perhaps even install Acronis Trueimage in that environment)  in order to gain access to the files in the back up?

Hello!

That's not supported. The recovery of a different OS is not possible. Recovery must be performed in the same OS as it was executed.

What you can do in a different OS is to re-install the program, re-add the backups in the program (https://kb.acronis.com/content/60918), and recover the files manually in Windows Explorer as mentioned in this KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/63240.

Note that even if you install the same OS on different hardware, you need to use the universal restore method to recover the entire system: https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681.

Thanks in advance!
