Rescue disk won't boot
I am running Acronis 2021 home edition. I am trying to create a Windows format Rescue Disk and bootable restored image. I can create a Windows format Rescue disk on a RW CD, but it won't boot.
Environment: Dell Optiplex 3040 with KingFast SD as primary drive/Windows 10 with BIOS in UEFI mode
Windows 10 Pro
Acronis 2021
RW CD connected via USB
1) Open Acronis 2021
2) Choose "Rescue Media Builder"
3) Choose "Simple"
4) Choose "ISO file"
5) write ISO file to disk
6) Use Windows Explorer and burn ISO file to RW CD
7) Make sure CD is in optical device
8) Reboot computer to BIOS menu and force RW CD to first boot device
9) Exit bios and boot
The machine freezes at the Dell LOGO displaying traveling sequence of dots.
Note: if I repeat process and choose "Advance" and "Linux-based Media'; burn CD. The CD I get does boot successfully and it will generate a backup tibx and I can use that tibx to restore to a USB sata drive. However the restored USB sata drive won't boot.
I strongly suspect the issue is related to a missing driver on the Rescue disk (Windows version) and the restored USB image, possible caused by the fact that the original Windows installation is a KingFast SD. I have Acronis Universal restore, but have no idea what driver might be missing or how to find the correct .inf file on the running Windows 10 to use with Universal restore.
So how do I get Acronis to generate a working Windows 10 Rescue CD and how do I get Acronis to restore a bootable image to a USB sata drive?
