Rescue Media doesn't support large backup files

Thread needs solution

One of three PCs in the business is only booting into Windows Recovery Environment. All standard windows commands do not restore the Windows environment. The Acronis full system backup resides on a network storage unit. There is a large Full backup and a smaller Incremental backup that needs to applied to the PC.

Acronis Media Recovery boots up but does not recognize NTFS flash drives the backups copied to them.  Nor does it provide a way to access the Network drive with the backups

How do I get this PC back up and running without destroying the loaded apps and data?

Duane, welcome to these public User Forums.

Acronis rescue media will not work with large NTFS formatted flash drives - it expects such drives to be using FAT32 normally though recent versions may accept exFAT.

The best type of storage media to use is an external USB HDD or SSD which can be using NTFS.  I typically use either 1TB or 2TB external HDD drives.

Network support in rescue media depends on whether the media correctly detects your network adapter in the PC - for this, the best option is to create the 'Simple' WinPE version of rescue media which captures device support from your Windows Recovery Environment.

There is no DNS support in the rescue media, so you need to connect to your Network drive via its IP address rather than by name.
