Restore files after loss of OS hard drive.

Thread needs solution

Hi...

I have used Acronis for many years as backup software.  Today, I lost a couple hard drives and had to reinstall Acronis Cyber Protect.

I had backed up my files to an external drive with no issues. This is my first ever restore. The Acronis program (reinstall) does not show any of my backups so, I tried both drag/drop and copy/paste in Windows Explorer with no luck. On attempting either, I get the spinning wheel....

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you.

Kristin, the recommended method for restoring any backup that includes the Windows OS is to boot the computer from the Acronis rescue media to perform the recovery.

If you have only backed up your user files such as documents, pictures, videos, music etc, then you can add these backups to the Acronis GUI by using the 'Add existing backup' option - this is hidden behind a caret 'v' to the right of the normal + Add backup option.  Hover your mouse over the caret to see the option.

Hello Kristin!

Could you please tell us if it was possible to recover the files after trying to recover with the B.media as properly suggested by Steve?

Thanks in advance!
