SDXC backup not shown in Windows explorer

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have a question about backing up an SDXC SD card.

Normally I can browse the .tib file in Windows explorer.

However, with a backup of my SDXC card, it displays "empty folder". I often browse to check if the backup was successful. The size of the file seems to be correct. Does someone know if the backup was successful, and will I be able to recover this? Or is there a way to browse the file? I think it has to do with the different formatting of the SD card.

Thank you!

Tobias, welcome to these public User Forums.

What is the origin of the SDXC card, i.e. does it come from such as a Raspberry PI computer?

It is plausible that Windows Explorer cannot display the content of the backup if a foreign file system is used for the card (one that is not used in Windows).

What does the Recovery panel of Acronis show for the backup contents?

Hello Tobias,

Welcome to the forum!

As you mentioned, the issue might be related to the file system format of the SD card. Please ensure that the file system of the backup destination (where the .tib file is stored) is compatible with the SD card's file system. If they are different, consider formatting the backup destination with a compatible file system.

Additionally, validate the backup file to verify the integrity of the backup by running a validation check. This will confirm whether the backup is intact and can be restored successfully.

Sometimes, Windows Explorer may not display the contents correctly. I would advise you to create a WinPE bootable media and try to restore directly from there: https://kb.acronis.com/content/69427

If the issue persists, please raise a ticket with our support so we can investigate the issue: https://kb.acronis.com/content/8153

Thanks in advance!
