This Software is Garbage!
I purchased a 3 PC license of ATI Advanced yesterday and have been backing up my system to an external HDD for about 30 hours now and it's only 39% done. The time remaining continuously changes from 2-13 hours, but never actually finishes. I submitted a ticket with a system report, I tried to speak with tech support on their "Always Available 24-7/ 365" chat, but for some reason, today, at this particular time, it is conveniently unavailable. Feeling ripped off and scammed. I cannot get a hold of anyone at this company. My MS backup at least worked. This software is completely worthless.

Thank you for the tips Bruno. I was in fact following the default settings and backing up my entire system which consists of 5 HDD, to an 8TB external HDD over USB3. I will abort this attempt and set up individual backups for each drive. Also, resources in use during the backup were minimal, 24% CPU and 30% RAM.

Concerns about backup times is something many users have been expressed by many users since the introduction of the *.tibx architecture in ATO 2020. Following Bruno's advice should make the backup process work far better. In addition to having separate backup task for each HDD (or in some case each separate partition), I use files and folder backups of directories where the content changes rapidly - including the Documents and Downloads directories. I try to separate applications from "data" as much as possible, so that I can recover my system drive without having to worry about data that may have changed since the last backup.
Any backup solution, will take much longer when multiple disks are included in a backup task. Whole PC may be appropriate for a laptop with only on HHD/SSD, but where the user has multiple drives with large amounts of "data" a more targeted approach will make the process more manageable.
One reason why the backup is taking so long is that the Cyber Protection module (introduced in ATI 2021) may be doing a scan of the PC. While the implementation of Cyber Protection in current build of ATI 2021 is greatly improved, it can still slow down the PC while doing a full scan. I have disabled full scans as I have a separate antivirus solution - Norton 360.

The company Acronis doesn't care about your data, they just want to sell this piece of software that corrupts your files for no reason.
The software's problem is the bad structure, it makes *.tibs and then self-corrupt for no reason, the problem is the poor quality engineers of the company Acronis.
I made giant files from important folders and saved to DVD, when we need to recover the "tibs", forget it. The Acronis company itself would not support you, they will say that your DVD media is no good, they will say that your RAM memory is defective, they will never admit their own mistakes.
Here's a golden tip and important advice:
make your files in WINRAR or WINZIP, which rarely give problems, don't trust the ACRONIS company cloud, don't trust anything from this Acronis company, you will lose all your data.
The most incredible thing is that this fifth rate company has no tools to even try to RECOVER CORRUPTED DATA, nor are they capable of it, spend their lives chasing those who use cracks and keygen for their software, and never help their customers.
Advice. NEVER USE THAT CRAP ACRONIS AGAIN. YOU WILL ONLY HAVE A HEADACHE AND COMPLETELY LOSE YOUR DATA.
He's never to blame, you're the one who does wrong things. Run away from these Acronis, scumbag company.

Dear Anderson,
We are very sorry that you had such terrible experience with data recovery.
Acronis developed the proprietary archive format for better data management and security. .tib .tibx archives offer compression, data deduplication, encryption and we're absolutely sure the archive format is stable and reliable. We insure that every release Acronis is doing an extensive testing to make sure all the core functions perform correctly and without critical issues.
Data corruption may have many reasons like the machine's faulty hardware, or they get corrupted during data transfer from network or USB, or due to the faulty transfer cable, or if the issue appears while the software is running in Windows or other loaded operating system, or if the issue is with Acronis Bootable Media. You can learn more about it in the article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/1517
As a best practice, to avoid such situations we recommend to make several backup copies to different destinations. It is well explained in the article: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/blog/posts/3-2-1-simple-rule-complex-data…
Also, it is important to validate backups, more information here: Backup validation option – Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office

I warn everyone at google to beware of Acronis software
Your autoresponder I've read in dozens of other posts.
But the truth is that I have already used hundreds of other software for Back, but only Acronis has given me serious and irresolvable problems. My BCKs don't have any defect, clean media were used, but during the process of Acronis Backing Up that problem occurs.
I've already read your automatic answer that it's an error in the transfer to another hd, pen drive, because it is, my question is because with all the files, from HDs, CDs, Pendrives, I'm sure the real problem is in the Acronis architecture True Image that sucks.
For long years I have been using "Active Boot Disk" from a 'boot disk' company, decades withou problems, entire partitions, files etc, I have never, ever had any errors or problems, with the 'Active@ Boot Disk' that never fails. My date is secrure with them, worth to pay lots for.
But with Acronis, the files on DVDs and HDS that I have made in this Acronis Garbage are what gave me problems, but from Acronis are unable to 'CREATE A TOOL TO REPAIR our DEFECTIVE DATA', which were defected by you from Acronis company.
I have a lot of files did in Acronis since 2006, that I could never open again. I don't even why people still use your software, because all my friends and customers have had problems with you from Acronis, poor support, quick and vague answers. I don't even know how you guys keep selling this useless software.

Hello Anderson!
Optical and solid state drives are not an ideal target medium for long term backup solution. Data on both may degrade at rest and cause data corruption. It's hard to know for sure if this is the cause, but if it is, it's not something Acronis is meant to solve.
Regurlarly verifing backups are still working, multiple copies, adequate backup intervals are all general backup recommendations that could prevent/mitigate these issues. Expecting flawless software and hardware is just a recipe for disaster.
Don't know if the home office version offers validation on created backups, but the business version does. This helps to at least catch corruption when it happens.

William McManus wrote:Feeling ripped off and scammed.
William there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to purchase new versions of Cyber Protect Home / True Image as the older versions work perfectly on Windows 11 and do not contain any system hogging processes / services or the unneeded anti-virus software.
I personally use True Image 2014 on Windows 11 (tpm 2.0 / uefi / secure boot) and despite what lies people will spout about the older versions. Acronis needs a stream of money continually coming in, so they'll (and their mouth pieces on this forum) will pretend the older versions are not compatible with Windows 10 / 11 and will cause users problems.
Drive imaging software rarely needs updating unless there is a new feature that a user requires.

Joseph, what are you talking about? My issue was submitted and resolved over a year ago and had nothing to do with any of the points you made in your response. Stick to the topic if you have the need to reply.

I've used Acronis True Image very happily over the years, and have never had a problem. I updated to Home Office protect and things have gone downhill.
All of a sudden, backups that worked fine (even on Home and Protect for a while) are now met with the message that my external hard drive is corrupt although file explorer can see (and open) them quite okay. It sees the Acronis backups, but Acronis software won't let it open them.
I contacted Acronis through their on-line portal and the chap wanted me to download Team Viewer so he could take control of my PC. Seriously? Give complete control of my PC to someone I've never met and who is 10,000 kms away? Would you???
All I want to do is delete ALL previous Acronis backups and start a fresh backup of my PC to my F drive. The guy couldn't help me with that and said he'd email in 24 - 48 hours with further instructions. I've uninstalled/re-installed the software three times now with no change.
It's my data on my PC. It's mine.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for that.
Whereas I used to get the option to clean up previous versions, I no longer do.
The only option I now have is to rename my source, i.e. my PC as can be seen in the attached screenshot. Every other option has disappeared.
Haven't heard back from the Acronis rep, and I have no control over the Acronis data on my external hard drive.
Sigh.

Michael, thanks for screen image but it does not show what options you get if you click on the caret 'v' to the right of your backup task name?
There are various different options that can be shown for the drop-down menu depending on the type of backup task and status - see images below:
If the task has not yet been run / no backup file created:
If the backup is of Files & Folders using .tib files:
If the backup is of Disks & Partitions using .tibx files:
Each of the above menus offer a Delete option, which if you click will then ask you whether you want to delete everything, i.e. task settings and files, or just remove the task settings (leaving the files intact).
You can use that option to do a complete clean out of the problem task.

Hi Steve,
I do really appreciate your assistance with this; I've been trying since July this year to get someone from Acronis to do the same but they either want to take control of my PC or promise to get back to me but never do.
As I said earlier, I used to have those options you've set out but they're no longer available to me. The only option I now have from the drop down screen is to "rename" my PC which I call "HURDYGURDY".
I've attached two photos (as "print screen" closed the "rename" option). The first confirms my only options are to "rename" my backup source and the second is from "file explorer" showing my Acronis backups up until July are still on my external "F" hard drive.
File explorer can see see them, but Acronis software can't.
It's exasperating as I can't delete the files through file explorer as Acronis software won't allow me to.
Any help you can provide is truly appreciated.
Michael

Michael, from your further screen images, it seems as if Acronis has lost the connection between the task and the backup files, therefore my suggestion would be to try doing the following:
Click on the option to 'Add existing backup' (which is hidden under the caret 'v' to the right of the normal + Add backup option.
Select the most recent of your backup files from your My Book HDD, then check what options are shown from the drop-down menu?

You may also need to Reconfigure the backup task. If so the application will prompt you to do so. If Reconfiguration is needed remember to make sure that all Options settings are the same as the original task was set. I have experienced a change in task options to something other than what was originally set when Reconfigure is required.

Hi Steve
I've done as you suggested and, voila, it seems to have worked (fingers crossed).
I was able to delete all past backups from my external hard drive and have been able to successfully run a brand spanking new backup of my system.
I can't thank you enough for your help and sage advice.
Michael

I agree that this software is garbage and does not make reliable disk clones or backups. I spent the last 2 days trying to clone the C drive of one of my PC's and after completion I found several programs that would not run due to missing license files. Other issues were experienced with missing data when trying to run. After trying to clone onto several new replacement SSD's (and each time taking a couple hours to complete) I finally purchased R-Drive Image and it was not only faster but the SSD ran the applications perfectly with no missing license files. As IT Director for a large food processing company I am in the process of removing Acronis from all my personal and business PC and will be switching to another solution. They got my money this year, but that's the end of it.
