True Image 2021 backs up for about 20-30 min then gives object locked error.

Thread needs solution

all of my backups will start and run for about 20-30 min, backup quite a bit of data and then stop with an object locked error.  I Can't figure out what is locked.  I reboot the computer and the file server I'm backing up to and this does not seem to help.  Any sugestons on how to fix this?  At this stage I'm not sure what to do.

David, all backup tasks create logs for the operations being performed which should help identify what errors are being reported.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.7.3)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant, i.e. Media Builder.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Hello David!

Please try the following solutions:

  1. Exclude Certain Files or Folders: Identify the specific files or folders that are causing the issue, if possible. You can exclude these files/folders from the backup temporarily to see if the backup completes successfully. This will help pinpoint the problematic items.

  2. Check for Running Applications: Make sure there are no applications actively using the files/folders being backed up. Close any unnecessary programs before starting the backup.

  3. Schedule Backup During Inactivity: Try scheduling backups during times when the computer is less likely to be in use. This reduces the chances of files being locked due to ongoing activities.

  4. Check for Antivirus or Security Software: Some security software can lock files to protect them. Temporarily disable or configure your security software to allow Acronis to access the necessary files.

  5. Enable the "Volume Shadow Copy" option in the backup plan or make sure it's enabled and working.

  6. Check System and Event Logs: Examine the Windows Event Viewer for any relevant error messages that might shed light on the cause of the locking issue.

Feel free to update the thread if you have any questions.

Thanks in advance!
