User Account Control

Thread needs solution

Greetings,

This may be a newbie question (using Windows 10).  I have transitioned to Cyber Protect Home Office (build 40729) a week or so ago.  I have installed with Admin rights.  When ever I open Cyber Protect Home Office desktop/dashboard, I have to give User Account Control permission (screen goes grey, pop-up, "yes").  I contacted support.  Did a total uninstall using the utility.  Reinstalled (with Admin rights) and still, when ever I want to open the dashboard, I have to give permission.  It seems to stop some of the backups scheduled for overnight; each morning I have to click on the white "A" in the taskbar and give permission.

Is this normal behavior?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, welcome to these public User Forums.

You are seeing normal behaviour with being prompted by user account control on launching the Acronis GUI - this is because of the importance of the actions that can be performed by the application, i.e. you can restore a backup image and overwrite a working drive, or initialise a drive using the tools included etc.

Scheduled backup operations should not need to be granted further permissions when Acronis was installed using Administrator authority.  If the backups are stopping overnight then there may be a different factor coming into play here, i.e. check the Advanced Options for the Scheduler settings of each task, and ensure that you have ticked the options to prevent the computer going to sleep while the task is running!

Thank you so much, Steve.  This is very helpful.  I think I timed them that this should not be an issue, but let me re-check.  i may have it going to the sleep while some backups have not finished.

Thanks!

Chris
