Version 40729 slower than the previous one?

Thread needs solution

Good morning.

I'm doing my monthly backups.

Yesterday evening, before starting, I performed the update offered by Acronis to version 40729.

Backing up a NAS containing hundreds of thousands of very small files took around 6 hours for 721GB in August with the previous version. Last night, the backup, identical to the previous one, was launched at 9:21 p.m. At this time, 1:10 p.m., it is still not finished and is at around 483GB. So it's been almost 16 hours now.

Is there a slowness problem with this new version?

Thank you for your feedback.

Hello,

After checking the records, I didn't find any other cases reporting this behavior. The backup version shouldn't affect the speed of the backup.

Other factors may be at play, such as the file size, an overloaded CPU, disk integrity, or the type of backup (incremental is typically faster than full due to its smaller size).

I would advise the following:

  • Check for Background Processes: Ensure that no other resource-intensive processes are running on your computer while the backup is in progress, as they could slow down the backup process.

  • Review Backup Settings: Double-check your backup settings to make sure there are no unintentional changes that might be causing the slowdown. Ensure that your backup selections are consistent with your previous configuration. For example, validation can significantly increase the time it takes to complete a backup.

As a workaround, you can also increase the priority of the operation following this user guide: Acronis User Guide - Increasing Operation Priority.

I also recommend reviewing the connections with the NAS, as the issue may originate from there.

If the issue persists, please raise a ticket with our support team at Acronis Support.

Best regards.
