What does "AtpSoftwareInventory" do?

Thread solved

I'm using "Acronis Cyber Protect 15 - Backup Advanced Workstation". It often happens that my computer's fan runs loudly because the Acronis process "ATP Software Inventory Service" consumes nearly 20% of the CPU. What does this service actually do?

However, I decided to rename the executable so that Acronis can't start this service anymore.

C:\Program Files\Acronis\AtpSoftwareInventory\software-inventory.exe -> ...\software-inventory_.exe

But I don't know what side effects this might cause. Manually starting the backup does still work -- and the backup looks good.

Any idea?

Please raise your question in the Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Forum where there will be users familiar with that business product.

AtpSoftwareInventory service looks to be an unprotected file tracker on machines running agents.  I have no idea what the effects are of disabling the service however, I would advise you to seek help from Acronis support channels as the CPU load you mention is excessive.

Here is a link to a list of all processes and services found in the Acronis Cyber Protect 15 product.

Unfortunately I have no longer Acronis support for this product. I think I also can't extend the support anymore. I decided to raise the question in the Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Forum as Steve suggested. Thank you both for the input!

Hello Arber,

Please don't create multiple topics for the exact same issue, as that creates misunderstanding.
