When I clean up old versions, is my data being overwritten?
I made some changes to my ACPHO setup and now have a question. When I clean up old versions I now get a progress bar at the bottom of the window. The progress of this is progressing very slowly and I hear my drive working a lot. I am starting to think there is an over write function at work. This is a feature that I really don't need to be turned on.
Is this what is going on? I can't seem to stop the progress so I can't see if there is a setting to change but, like I said, it is taking a long time and I am ready for it to end.

Thank you for the response Steve.
To clarify, clean up old versions is taking a couple of hours to delete just one 1.5TB version. That version is an encrypted backup, so I suspect that it is securely deleting it by overwriting it with random data and this is what is taking so long.
I don't need or want the old version to be securely overwritten. I just want it quickly deleted. My other backups all clean up old versions after just a few seconds so I know something is going on and, like I said, I strongly suspect that it is doing a secure delete.
Any suggestions on how to turn a secure erase function off?

Richard, I have never seen any mention of either the clean up versions tool, or automatic cleanup having any options for using secure deletion methods, so the question as to why your very large, 1.5TB backup, is taking several hours to be deleted is a mystery that you will need to engage directly with Acronis to have them investigate, to see if this is a code issue or not?
It may well be the combination of an encrypted backup coupled with the very large size that is at the heart of why it is slow, but the tools should be able to handle those factors and deliver the same or very similar speed to your other backups that are deleted in seconds!

Thank you Steve. I will check with Acronis to see if they can tell me what is going on. I'll report back if I get a solution.
