Windows on new PC became corrupted within 30 minutes of installing Acronis

Thread needs solution

In early April I built a new PC (Ryzen 7000 series). I spent the first day installing software - one of the last things I installed was Acronis. Within 30 mins of installing, the Windows installation became totally corrupted. Initially I got "The extended attributes are inconsistent" when trying to run Task Manager. The next time I tried, the error was "File system error. (-1073741819)". I couldn't open command prompt or most other Windows utilities.

After reinstalling Windows, I did not install Acronis. I have been running the system for nearly 2 months without the issue occurring again. I did a full RAM test with Memtest86 which showed no errors. I have no way of knowing for sure if the issue was due to Acronis, but it has left me very reluctant to install it again. Are there any known issues which could have caused this?

Andrew, I have not seen any other reports similar to yours above in the forum that I can remember, and have never experience such issues myself in all the years of using Acronis across many different versions.

What version of Acronis did you install and which version of Windows?

Did you perform any operations using Acronis in the period between installing it and finding that corruption was being reported?

It was whichever version was available for download on 5th April. Windows 11. I believe at the time it was doing an initial backup. Unlike when I used it on Windows 10, I had forgotten to turn off the antivirus part of the application.
