ACPH Rescue Media Builder: Hangs while looking for drivers

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to update my survival kit with the Rescue Media builder...it just hangs while looking for drivers and there's no way to bypass it.

Any thoughts?

Michael, welcome to these public User Forums.

What is the size of the survival kit partition on your external drive?  If it is the default size of only 2GB, then it is probable that this is the reason for the hang as ACPHO now tries to include graphics device drivers in the rescue media and this can result in needing more than 2GB space!

You can use a partition manager such as the free MiniTool Partition Wizard to resize the Survival Kit partition to be larger, i.e. 3 - 5GB, then retry updating the media.

The alternative method would be to assign a Windows drive letter to the ASK partition then use the Advanced method of the rescue media builder and deselect the graphics drivers when building / updating the media with the ASK drive letter selected.

Thanks for the suggestion...I upped my partition to 10Gb.  Still no luck.  I also tried the Advanced mode and it just hangs (20 minutes+).  Any other thoughts?

Michael, it may be worth taking a look at the Media Builder log to see if that shows any information on what is happening here?

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant update for Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (Version 1.1.6.0)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

I installed the log viewer...nothing seemed to be there.  I tried again this morning and it worked; according to the log (I stepped away and didn't see it finish), it also didn't take that long.  Weird.  :-)

Michael, I guess that the acid test here is to try booting from the ACPHO rescue media to prove that it has been created correctly and will work when needed.
