Acronis 2021 Cloud backup failing

Thread needs solution

My Acronis 2021 cloud backup has failed every day for the past week. Here are the error messages. Any suggestions on what I need to do to get this fixed?

John, the obvious potential cause for this issue is that you are backing up OneDrive data as shown in the error messages above:

GLOBALROOT\\Device\\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy50\\OneDrive\\Documents\\My address.docx

If you have OneDrive Files on Demand enabled then this uses reparse points for files stored in the cloud and Acronis cannot process those reparse points!

Try omitting OneDrive from your backup and see if it will work successfully then?

Hi Steve,

It's a bit of a catch22 - I had this problem last year and managed to solve it - since then I've had to rebuild my PC and the problem has returned.

There's an tight link between the folders under c:\Users and OneDrive. Once you click any file/folder under Users, the corresponding OneDrive folder "lights up" and that gives the file access issues.

I know I had a scheduled script that manually copied Users to another drive - perhaps that was my "Get out of Jail" card.

I could then remove anything under Users from "on Demand" backups and not have this issue.

The problem though with that approach, is that the target drive is always overwritten and you have no backup history, only the last copy.

e.g.

Robocopy C:\Users\xxxxx\OneDrive\Desktop   F:\BackupW10\Desktop /Maxage:30  /E  /FP /np /r:5 /w:5 /XD "Recycle Bin" /LOG:"C:\Scripts\DesktopCopy.log"

Hi Natrei,

if you have Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office\ Acronis True Image Advanced or Premium subscription, you can back up OneDrive and mailboxes for Microsoft 365 Consumer accounts to Acronis Cloud. Here is the feature description in case you consider obtaining a subscription https://kb.acronis.com/content/62069
